IDWS Conference 2025 brought together industry leaders, innovators, and decision-makers to explore next-generation water and wastewater technologies, highlighting milestones including the Sludge Plus Global Prize for Innovation in Water.
The IDWS Conference 2025 concluded after a dynamic and productive week focused on innovation, collaboration, and progress in the water and wastewater sector. The event brought together technology developers, utilities, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore new approaches to managing water resources more efficiently and sustainably.
Throughout the exhibition, GI Aqua Tech, GI Water as a Service (WAAS), and Sludge Plus presented a range of next-generation wastewater treatment technologies designed to address modern infrastructure challenges. These solutions included advanced non-biological treatment systems, the award-winning G.NANO technology, decentralized plug-and-play treatment systems, and zero-waste sludge solutions.
The technologies highlighted during the event focused on improving treatment efficiency, reducing operational complexity, and enabling more flexible wastewater infrastructure. Decentralized treatment systems, in particular, attracted strong interest due to their ability to provide scalable solutions for urban developments, industrial sites, and remote locations.
In parallel, the Sludge Plus system demonstrated how wastewater sludge can be converted into valuable outputs rather than treated as waste. By focusing on sludge reuse and resource recovery, the technology supports circular economy principles and reduces the environmental burden associated with sludge disposal.
The conference also marked several important achievements across the ecosystem:
Sludge Plus received the 2025 Global Prize for Innovation in Water (GPIW), recognizing its zero-waste sludge treatment approach and contribution to sustainable wastewater management.
GI Aqua Tech signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sekaya Charitable Foundation, expanding efforts to provide reliable wastewater treatment solutions to communities in need.
Company leadership contributed to the conference program, with Sherif Desouky, PhD, and Fahad AlFahhad sharing insights on circular water adoption and decentralized wastewater treatment models.
The teams welcomed numerous sector leaders, technical experts, and decision-makers at their exhibition stand, engaging in discussions about scalable and future-ready water infrastructure.
